The Sterling Highway MP 45-60 project aims to bring the highway up to current standards for a rural principal arterial to efficiently and safely serve through-traffic, local community traffic, and traffic bound for recreation destinations in the area.
The project's current plan and schedule proposes six (6) stages. The figure illustrates the construction phasing approach that will be followed based on available funding and if the State of Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is successful with securing funds outside the traditional methods. The anticipated number of construction seasons are presented in the timeline for each stage.
These dates are dependent on the timing of funding allocations, as project funding is obtained the expected completion and opening date will be adjusted.
